Sandra Birchmore’s Examiner Found Farwell’s Name in Her Password and Cleared His Phone

Published by Tony Brueski on

Nicholas Guarino held Sandra Birchmore’s digital life in his hands. Her password was Matthew Farwell’s name. He got into her laptop with it. Then he searched Farwell’s phone for messages with Sandra, found zero, and gave the phone back. Prosecutors say Farwell had already deleted everything after his parking lot interview with state police. The FBI would later recover tens of thousands of messages Guarino never saw. He also testified he deleted a partial extraction of Sandra’s laptop as redundant, that her Apple Watch was too new to read, and that an external drive failed in 2024 on a date he can’t confirm. Bob Motta breaks down what this evidence chain looks like to a defense attorney and whether any of it was recoverable once the phone left the lab. Farwell is charged with killing Sandra and her unborn child. The defense says suicide.
