Former Pastor Says Caleb Flynn’s Sin Brought Him Closer to God

A man who pastored for thirty years and left the faith entirely sat down for Homicide Happy Hour and said what insiders know but don’t say. Caleb Flynn led worship while carrying on a relationship behind his wife Ashley’s back. He was convicted on all nine counts and sentenced to life without parole for her murder in Tipp City, Ohio. Gibson says the affair didn’t create distance between Flynn and his faith. It created the opposite. The evangelical system teaches that sin is proof you need God more, and shame becomes a kind of closeness. Gibson watched that cycle in every church he served, including one where he personally knew the pastor at the center of a national scandal, Ted Haggard. The whole structure, Gibson says, demands hiding. Flynn couldn’t be honest either, and Ashley paid the price.
