Matthew Farwell — The Work Phone Searches He Made After Sandra Birchmore Died

His personal phone was already with State Police. So Matthew Farwell went to his department-issued work phone. Eight days after Sandra Birchmore died, he searched whether consent can be revoked in Massachusetts and whether deleted iMessages are recoverable through Cellebrite. The FBI examiner laid out the digital timeline from the night of February 1st: Sandra’s phone captured six steps at 9:10 PM, locked at 9:13, moved eight more steps at 9:40, then went permanently still. Farwell was recorded entering her building. Two days prior, Sandra had compiled a list of baby names. Matthew was the last one. The defense had the examiner confirm Sandra searched for a self-harm awareness ribbon at 7:50 PM that evening. Farwell has pleaded not guilty to federal charges.
