Matthew Farwell — “I Figured You Would Have Said No Because You Were Young”

These are not allegations from a witness. They are Matthew Farwell’s own words, preserved on his phone and read aloud in federal court. An FBI agent spoke Sandra Birchmore’s side. A prosecutor spoke his. He wrote that he figured she would have said no because she was young. He wrote that he got addicted. He maintained a cover story — tutoring at the library — while prosecutors allege the relationship was physical there during Sandra’s high school years. He confirmed to the FBI that 2012 was accurate. Sandra was fourteen at the time. He told her to delete messages, and he did it repeatedly. The FBI testified his conduct constitutes aggravated statutory offense. Farwell held the title of mandated reporter — legally required to flag the mistreatment of a minor. He has pleaded not guilty.
