What Gypsy Rose’s Father Said About Dee Dee Blanchard After She Was Killed

There’s a corner of the internet defending Dee Dee Blanchard as an innocent mother. They point to Gypsy Rose’s prison calls, her dishonesty, and a confirmed genetic condition as proof Dee Dee was telling the truth. The condition is real. What Dee Dee did with it isn’t.

1q21.1 microdeletion causes developmental delays. It has nothing to do with paralysis, muscular dystrophy, leukemia, or feeding tubes. Dee Dee doctor-shopped across state lines, used Hurricane Katrina to erase prior records, and built a medical history from her own version of events. A neurologist caught it in 2007 and wrote it in Gypsy’s chart.

The movement uses Gypsy’s own words to defend Dee Dee while calling Gypsy a liar who fabricates everything. Prosecutor Dan Patterson built his case on medical records, financial documents, and the doctor-shopping trail — not on anything Gypsy said.

Rod Blanchard said Dee Dee asked for what she got. The people who raised her aren’t on the internet defending her.
