One Goes to the Jury. One Wants Charges Gone. One Says the Cop Lied. Who Survives?

Published by Tony Brueski on

Alex Murdaugh’s lawyers say a grand jury was deceived, and Eric Faddis, a defense attorney and former prosecutor, is with me on the Alex Murdaugh retrial, Matthew Farwell and Lindsay Clancy. The lead SLED agent swore in July 2022 that an expert found blood from Maggie and Paul on the shirt Alex wore that night, eight months after the agent’s own lab had reported no human blood on it. The defense wants all four murder indictments gone, and the judge hears it November 13th.

Matthew Farwell’s jury gets the case after closing arguments Friday, November 6th. Prosecutors say the former Stoughton detective strangled Sandra Birchmore, and two prosecution experts testified her iPhone recorded no steps after 9:40 that night. Farwell’s lawyers say none of his DNA was under her fingernails.

Lindsay Clancy’s lawyers asked Judge William Sullivan on November 2nd to dismiss her murder charges, arguing he should have questioned the lone holdout juror instead of declaring a mistrial. Eric tells me which of these three defenses actually has a shot.
