Lindsay Clancy: One Juror Changed WHAT Happens Next?!

The Lindsay Clancy jury did not agree. Eleven jurors leaned toward acquittal; the twelfth did not. That disagreement ended a trial about the deaths of her three children. But the defense says the court had more work to do before declaring a mistrial.
Two notes from the foreperson questioned whether the holdout was following the judge’s directions on reasonable doubt. Judge William Sullivan spoke to jurors, reiterated the instructions, and on September 4, 2026 declared that a unanimous verdict was out of reach. Lindsay’s lawyers argue further inquiry might have revealed a basis to replace the juror. Prosecutors say the jury was genuinely deadlocked and that questioning the juror’s thinking would cross a line courts are not supposed to cross.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington is also seeking scrutiny of the holdout’s confidential questionnaire and phone use. He alleges the juror looked up a psychiatric term, ‘altruistic filicide,’ during deliberations. The juror’s attorney denies improper conduct and says the defense accepted him before trial, then challenged him after the vote. An October 21 ruling denied the defense’s bid to question the juror or inspect the records. The November 2 hearing brought renewed arguments about dismissal, double jeopardy and preserving material; no decision to throw out the case was made.
Tony Brueski, criminal defense attorney Bob Motta, and former FBI behavioral expert Robin Dreeke separate a juror’s disagreement from actual misconduct. They discuss why these allegations are serious, why they remain allegations, and what the law protects when jurors deliberate. The case returns November 16. The next fight is not about replaying every witness. It is about whether this jury was allowed to finish its job.
