Elizabeth Holmes: The Film Deal Behind WHAT Claim?!
What does it take to convince yourself you have never lied? Elizabeth Holmes says exactly that in You Can See Everything, the new A24 documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. The line lands against an unavoidable legal record: a federal jury convicted the Theranos founder of investor fraud, and she is serving a sentence of more than eleven years. The film gives her room to explain herself, but it also keeps testing what viewers are being asked to believe.
For 34 days before she reported to prison, a camera crew stayed close to Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans. Evans had obtained power of attorney and later used Holmes’s X account and likeness as part of her public presence. The production tracks how those choices complicate the story Holmes hoped to tell. Is Evans protecting the person he loves, promoting the brand, or doing some of both? His account of his own role differs from some portrayals in the film.
Then comes the meeting with A24. The directors reconstruct an exchange in which Evans sought a share of the film’s profits after Holmes left the room. Later, she tells Fielder she has no financial stake. That leaves the question at the center of the movie: was she kept in the dark, or was the separation between their stories deliberate? Although a profit-sharing arrangement was discussed, the film says Evans eventually relinquished it.
Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott connect those competing narratives with the question of self-belief. They discuss why absolute declarations of innocence or truthfulness can be so hard to evaluate from demeanor alone, and why apparent confidence is not proof of what someone knows internally. Holmes has a scheduled move to an Austin-area halfway house in August 2027. The next chapter of her public story is already being written, and this film asks who has the pen.
