Sandra Birchmore: Who Framed Her Death as WHAT?!
The first official story about Sandra Birchmore’s death was suicide. By the time Dr. María del Mar Capó-Martínez performed the autopsy in February 2021, the documentation she received from Canton police and Massachusetts State Police already used that description. The medical examiner later testified that her office had not been asked to visit the scene and that she relied on information supplied by investigators. When she sought updates, there was reportedly nothing new to report.
That is the first half of this combined Hidden Killers episode. The second is what happened when the original finding no longer seemed so certain. In April 2026, the manner of death changed from suicide to undetermined. Prosecutors say that earlier conclusion was influenced by a poor investigation; the defense says undetermined is not the same as homicide and asks jurors to respect the uncertainty.
Tony Brueski, former prosecutor turned defense attorney Eric Faddis, and retired FBI behavioral expert Robin Dreeke confront the gap between the medical paperwork and the physical case. DNA testing found Matthew Farwell was not the father of the child Sandra was carrying. Farwell’s lawyers use that result to challenge the alleged motive. Prosecutors answer that Sandra told Farwell the baby was his and argue that what a person believed at the time can matter more than what testing later proved. The defense also emphasizes the reported lack of defensive DNA beneath Sandra’s fingernails and the absence of torn clothing or clear struggle marks.
Farwell denies killing Sandra and has pleaded not guilty. He faces federal charges tied to the alleged killing of a witness and her unborn child, not an ordinary state murder prosecution.
