What Lindsay Clancy’s Lawyer Tried To Give The Court

The Lindsay Clancy trial asks eighteen strangers to answer a question no one in the courtroom can prove. Both sides stipulate that she killed Cora, Dawson, and Callan in January 2023. The prosecution’s entire case is built around proving she was sane when she did it — and under Massachusetts law, that burden falls on them, not the defense.ADA Jennifer Sprague’s theory rests on a digital trail: Apple Maps route calculations, timed errands, and what prosecutors describe as a manufactured window of opportunity. She has called Lindsay a methodical killer who “executed” her children “one by one.”Kevin Reddington sees the same facts differently. His client voluntarily admitted herself to McLean Hospital. She told providers she was hearing voices commanding her to harm her children. She went to emergency rooms. She called crisis lines. She took every medication prescribed. And none of it stopped what happened on January 24. Reddington asked the court to let the defense concede the killings and evaluate her mental state separately. The court said no.Tony delivers his case for why this trial was structurally doomed before the first juror raised their hand — and why the system should have allowed a plea that would have reached the same outcome without six to eight weeks of testimony that nobody in that courtroom will recover from.
