Siders Family Married Off Girls As Young As WHAT?!
Siders 16 kids child marriage pattern — state records show at least three girls as young as fourteen were married into or through the Siders family in two Appalachian Ohio counties between 2002 and 2008. One of those girls was married to a man thirty-four years her senior. A retired Gallia County judge who approved the marriage acknowledged that neither prosecutors nor child welfare were ever notified.
Ohio’s marriage statute allowed pregnant minors to marry with parental and judicial consent — even when the relationship itself was potentially a felony under the state’s own criminal code. Three judges in two states signed off on three marriages involving girls who were fourteen and fifteen. The legal framework that was supposed to protect those girls instead delivered them into a family system that allegedly produced the conditions found in a Vinton County home where sixteen children were discovered in a single room.
