Sandra Birchmore’s Body Had Evidence Her Investigator Never Noticed

Published by Tony Brueski on

Sandra Birchmore was found dead in her apartment on February 2, 2021. The lead state police investigator testified he didn’t inspect a duffel bag in the bedroom — the bag that held the strap she was found hanging from.

Without what Trooper Dunne called an obvious indication of foul play, investigators wouldn’t collect an item like that or send it to a crime lab. The conclusion came before the evidence was examined.

Sandra had told everyone about her pregnancy — her boss, her coworkers, her third-grade class. She left no note. Her phone stopped transmitting data before the last person known to be in her apartment was captured leaving on lobby footage.

Farwell, a former Stoughton police detective, is charged with killing Sandra to keep her from reporting to federal authorities about a relationship prosecutors say began when she was fifteen. Investigators had texts suggesting he’d put his hands around her neck.
