Melani Pawlowski says she knew nothing about the plan to kill Brandon Boudreaux. Robin Dreeke and I test that against her own words and the people around her. The day after the shot, she told Gilbert police she knew nothing, but she wouldn’t give them Lori’s or Cox’s phone numbers, believing those phones were being tracked. Ian Pawlowski testified Lori had told her police were dark and trying to stop their mission. A document attributed to Ian, filed in the custody case, says Melani believed Brandon had to die, while doubting anyone would act. Their lawyer said she didn’t believe the religious ideas she passed along. On a call Ian recorded after Cox died, she told Lori she wanted Brandon to stay afraid of him, and the two of them laughed.
