Lindsay Clancy’s Suicide Call Ended With WHAT?

Lindsay Clancy called a suicide hotline before she killed her three children in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and was told she didn’t qualify for help because she didn’t have a plan. That single phone call sits at the center of the trial now underway in Plymouth. Both sides agree Cora, Dawson, and Callan died at her hands. The only open question is criminal responsibility. Tony Brueski is joined by psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, author of Night Bird, to walk through everything that led to that call and everything that came after it. Lindsay’s providers had documented intrusive thoughts around the same time she was reportedly describing a commanding voice telling her to harm Cora, Dawson, and Callan — a distinction Shavaun says the treatment team never fully reckoned with. A forensic evaluation eventually diagnosed Bipolar I, a diagnosis her providers had floated but never locked in while it mattered. In the four months before the killings, Lindsay was prescribed thirteen different medications. Her husband, Patrick, warned providers directly that she was unrecognizable on Seroquel and asked them to stop. Instead of pulling back, they raised the dose. She checked into McLean Hospital on New Year’s Eve and sat for three days before a doctor examined her. Five providers passed through her care, and the lawsuit alleges none of them ever compared notes. Shavaun explains how a hotline screening script can miss a woman in active crisis, why revolving prescriptions without coordination make a bad diagnosis worse, and what should have happened differently the moment Patrick raised the alarm. This is the treatment record the jury in Plymouth is now being asked to weigh.
