Prosecutors say Timothy Hudson killed Anna Kepner "without any warning." But people outside the family have been telling a different story publicly for months. An ex-boyfriend's father claims he tried to warn the family about concerning behavior. Anna's aunt says Anna didn't want to go on the cruise. Hudson's own biological father accused the mother of taking the children without permission. This look back, with retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer, examines why prosecutors would use "no warning" language when the public record suggests otherwise — and what the answer reveals about how the government is building this case.Coffindaffer reads the alleged pattern: a stepbrother reportedly fixated on his stepsister, reportedly carrying a large knife, allegedly seen in a compromising position during a FaceTime call — all before Anna was placed in a cabin with him and no parents present aboard the Carnival Horizon. The crime scene showed deliberate concealment: Anna found under a bed, wrapped in a blanket, covered with life jackets. The suspect claimed total memory loss. Coffindaffer examines how the FBI handles that combination — concealment that requires conscious decision-making alongside a claim of amnesia — and what it tells investigators about whether this was escalation, not a single spontaneous event.Hudson faces first-degree murder and an additional serious federal charge. He has pleaded not guilty and remains free on GPS monitoring with a relative. The prosecution is fighting to revoke his release. Anna's father is calling for detention.
