Kohberger Told Judge Hippler WHAT About Being Forced?!

Bryan Kohberger is trying to take back his guilty plea as alleged unredacted crime-scene photos from the Idaho murders move through the online creator world. The criminal case ended in 2025, but the records around it are now being contested from two directions. 

A creator with more than 9,000 YouTube subscribers said she possessed unredacted images and was waiting for more. On September 15, 2026, the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office, Moscow Police and Idaho State Police said an unknown source had allegedly provided sensitive material to journalists and social-media creators. The agencies urged against publishing, posting or sharing the photographs. 

That warning followed months of legal restrictions. Judge Megan Marshall ordered bodies and immediately surrounding blood blacked out before City of Moscow releases. Idaho State Police later posted nearly 2,800 images in January 2026 and pulled them the same day. 

The Goncalves family said the images were live by the end of a 12-minute warning call. Senate Bill 1250 later exempted death-investigation photographs from public disclosure. 

Kohberger’s parents and sisters then publicly supported his post-conviction challenge. His petition alleges former counsel pressured him into a false confession, misled him about prison conditions and failed to disclose evidence he believes supports innocence. His July 2, 2025 plea hearing says something very different. 

Kohberger told Judge Steven Hippler that no one threatened him, no one told him to lie, no one promised anything outside the agreement, and he was entering the plea freely and voluntarily. He also said he was guilty. 
The petition points to hair from Ethan Chapin’s right hand. Defense expert Ruth Ballard had examined one hair from that location and described it as morphologically consistent with Chapin’s own reference hair. Kohberger now has to support his coercion claims with evidence strong enough to overcome his sworn answers, while investigators face a separate problem: tracing the alleged leak of protected crime-scene material.
