Caleb Flynn Trial Day 4: Sarah Stuchell’s Hammer Test Found WHAT?!
FBI forensic examiner Sarah Stuchell testified that the toolmark testing in the Caleb Flynn case produced a complicated result: some marks were consistent with a hammer seized from the Flynn home, while her written report remained inconclusive.
Caleb Flynn is charged in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. He has pleaded not guilty, and the defense says Ashley was killed during a home invasion while investigators rushed to blame him. Prosecutors allege the scene was staged to look like a burglary.
Stuchell said she tested multiple prying, gripping, and compression tools and compared them with casts and marks from the doors. She also examined the doorknob components and strike plates for possible toolmark comparisons.
She testified that marks on the door frame and marks produced during laboratory testing were consistent with a hammer seized from the Flynn house. The distinction matters: Stuchell also said her report was inconclusive on whether any of the tested tools actually made the marks found on the doors.
