A man lived three doors from twenty people for six years and says he never saw a single child. He wasn’t lying to reporters. That’s what makes it worse. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott explains how a human mind can genuinely fail to register what’s in front of it — when registering it would demand a phone call, a confrontation, an accusation against a neighbor in a town of seven hundred people.
